Calahonda can surely claim to be one of the finest developments along the Costa del Sol.
Since its foundation in 1963 Sitio de Calahonda has won several awards over the years including, an international award for the best Spanish urbanisation for the year 2000-2001, the Resident Tourism Award organized by Mijas town hall in 1986, and the Barclays Bank award for the best developer on the Costa del Sol.

Location and Communications:
Situated in the province of Malaga midway between Marbella and Fuengirola, Calahonda offers the possibility of living in an urbanisation of quality and prestige. Puerto Banus, southern Europe's premier boating and leisure centre, is only 15 minutes away and Malaga's large international airport can be reached within 20 minutes via a fast modern highway.
Its situation and southern orientation, provides the area with the unique climate in Europe and, coming from the coast of Africa, clearly visible from the urbanisation, refreshing night winds.

The urbanisation extends gently from the coast up to the undulating hills 300 metres above sea level, offering fantastic views of the surrounding countryside running down to the sea, and along the coastline to Gibraltar and Africa. Club La Naranja is situated in the centre of the urbanisation and is surrounded by beautiful well kept gardens.

Club de Golf La Siesta with 9 holes, practise range, putting green, chipping green, paddle tennis, restaurants and bar.
Cabopino golf built in 2001; situated a few metres away from the N-340. Pay and play with 18 holes par 71, which covers an area of 5,170 m². Designed by Juan Ligues Creus.
Within 5 minutes by car are, Artola golf, Santa Maria golf [Elviria], Miraflores golf, [Riviera del Sol] and La Cala golf

Calahonda has is own harbour, Puerto Cabopino where you may practise any kind of nautical sports and activities, like sailing, wind surfing, parascending, kite surfing, boat trips, dolphin watching and skin diving.
	Puerto de Cabopino offers 170 berths for small and medium size vessels and has many excellent restaurants from most corners of the world
From Puerto Cabopino the fine sandy beaches stretch to Calahonda, and to the west past you can walk along the beach all the way to Marbella, passing the Artola dunes [a protected national park] with it's restored moorish lookout tower
	Puerto Cabopino is surrounded by wide, fine sandy beaches, in the main season life guards watch the activities. On the beach are chiringitos, bars and restaurants for your pleasure.
On the Marbella side the sand dunes are a protected which incorporate a nudist beach. A very tranquil area where wild plants and flowers grow in the sand. Dunes that have witnessed the passage and footprints of many cultures which create a semi wild environment due to the lack of any kind of construction.
	One of the restored beacon Moorish towers, part of the protection dating back to Roman times. Their purpose was to give warnings of the presence of enemy vessels.

The Sierra Nevada, a well known winter station, is a favourite skiing destination, only two hours away by car.
